Hello [NAME],
Beginning this Fall 2009 season CPYL is initiating a new mandatory certification policy for all managers, coaches, and parents wishing to help out in the dugout or the field of play during games. The certification is designed to increase awareness and understanding of the league’s mission, policies, and rules of the game, so that the maximum learning environment is created not only for the players, but for coaches, managers, and parents alike. In addition, it is designed as an additional safeguard to protect our children. The certification will be an annual requirement in addition to the background checks already performed on the managers each season. The league will also be running a background check for all assistant coaches and parent badge applicants prior to approval and issuance. CPYL has purchased a badge machine and will be issuing them to all certified managers, coaches, and parents who may participate in dugout or on the field during the course of a game. The badges MUST be worn at all times while acting in this capacity. Anybody found without a badge will be asked to move outside of the field and dugout area for the remainder of the game. The only allowable exception will be made for a parent checking on an injured player. The certification training will be held on Saturday morning, August 22nd from 9-12:00. A make-up training session will also be held Thursday, August 27th at 6-9:00. Both sessions will be held at the CPYL complex. The league encourages as many potential assistant coaches, team moms, and parents to attend to ensure there is enough help for every team in case of absences within the normal coaching staff during the course of a season. The league believes this certification process will improve the experience of the families at CPYL and appreciates your support and understanding of this new policy.Thank you,Brian NaabCPYL President
